Question: “If Miss Universe were to become pregnant during her reign, should she be allowed to continue as Miss Universe?”

Answer: “Personally, I think Miss Universe is a symbol of a woman as well as she celebrating her femininity and if I believe that (thank you) if she gets pregnant, it should not in any way interrupt her duties. I believe that as a woman she should celebrate her femininity.”

This was one of the best responses throughout pageant history. The way she celebrated femininity and defended a woman has really empowered women around the world. Pregnancy of candidates was a major issue that year as one contestants was disqualified for that reason. Her response was so genuine and the best part was it didn’t end that night. She went on to work with the United Nations, speaking for various causes.
